The Human Eye

The human eye is an organ that locates in the head, is a organ wich reacts to light and pressure. As a sence organ, the mammalian eye allows vision. Human eyes help to provide a three dimensional, moving image normally coloured in daylight. Rod ans cone cells in the retina allow conscious light perception and vision including color differentation and the perception og depth. the human eye can differentiate between about 10 million colors.
Its function is basically to transform the light energy into electrical signals that are sent to the brain trought the optic nerve. It works in a very similar way to that of most vertebrates ans some mollusks, it has a lens called crystalline, wich is adjustable according to distance, a "diaphragm", wich is called a pupil, whose diameter is regulated by iris, and a tissue sensitive to light, wich is the retina. Light penetrates trought the pupil, trought the lens ans is projected into the retina, where it is transformed, thanks to cells called photoreceptors, into nerve implses that are transferred, through the optic nerve to the brain.
The most common diseases of the human eye are myopia, conjunctivitis, uveitis, cataracts, among others. Diabetes also causes vision problems.
To maintain a good vision, it is recommended to visit the minium ophthalmologist once a year, to control the level of sugar in the blood, and to wear sunglasses.
